The INFO 5815 Final Assignment, which was done during March 2021,

fulfill the second ALA competency in three ways providing practice with the concepts and ideas of managing collection, showing an understanding of the concepts, ideas, and methods of maintaining a collection, and learning about the lifecycle of recorded information and the issues therein.The first way the INFO 5815 Final Assignment fulfills the competencies is by providing practice with determining what methods and tools will work best in the digitization of the collection fulfilling 2C, Concepts, issues, and methods related to the management of various collections. The second way is through having to plan for the infrastructure necessary for the continued use and expansion of the collection. A core part of the assignment is determining not only the necessary staff for digitizing the collection but also the necessary staff for the maintenance and creation of the database the items will be held in as well as the security and physical items needed for the database. This fulfills 2D, Concepts, issues, and methods related to the maintenance of collections, including preservation and conservation.

The INFO 5210 third assignment, which was done during the Spring semester of 2021, fulfill the second ALA competency in three ways providing practice with the concepts and ideas of managing collection, showing an understanding of the concepts, ideas, and methods of maintaining a collection, and learning about the lifecycle of recorded information and the issues therein. The INFO 5210 assignment 3 provides experience with filling in information in Name Authority records fulfilling 2C, Concepts, issues, and methods related to the management of various collections. Over the course of the core classes I learned not just what the lifecycle of recorded information is but also the frailty of most forms of storage along with the necessity of a controlled environment to postpone the item's degradation as long as possible. This fulfills 2A, Concepts and issues relating to the lifecycle of recorded Knowledge and information, from creation through the various stages of use to disposition.
